Union Beats Boston College

It was a incredible game, the team that offers no scholarships against a powerhouse in Boston College.  The tiny Schenectady college has to be proud they played hard and answered every call, now the Dutchmen have made it to the holy land of college hockey.  It doesn't matter who they play either Minnesota or North Dakota State the school has something to be proud of!
Just think about it for a minute, NO SCHOLARSHIPS!  This coaching staff lead by Rick Bennett who has lead by example, his honesty and no frills approach to the game has carried over to the guys in garnet.  There have been many coaches that have went on to bigger and better things after they left Union but Rick Bennett stayed and his guys played their hearts out.

It's not only the staff but the whole school including the maintenance guys the cleaners the zamboni drivers the list goes on and on.  It's a fun environment Union offers, they don't get enough credit locally or nationally.  Finally they proved to the college hockey world that they belong.

These kids were overlooked by every school in the country and have proved to themselves and their families that with perseverence anything is possible.  Kudos to those kids who believed and never looked back.

This should be a story told to kids, parents should take a closer look at how it can be done.  It can happen David vs. Goliath.  Good things happen to those who never give up.

The Union College are going to the National Championship because of the heart they have, the love for their families and the skills they've acquired over the years.  It's a story bigger then life, determination is everything and it's now set in the record books, win or lose Union belongs with the big dogs of college hockey.
