This image is for the ages, a mom and her calf were spotted on April 8th 2014 just off the north shore of Oahu. These people were stunned when they came so close to shore and the surfer actually got a glimpse of them before heading in to the beach. It was actually a body boarder not a surfer, it's very common to see dolphins come this close but not whales. They were only 75 yards from shore. It looks to be a mom and her calf but were still uncertain.
It's friggen amazing what people catch on film and this was one of those days to be on the beach!
These pictures only come around once in a lifetime!
